Guest Post Submission Guidelines

  • SUBMITE-mail carefully crafted posts to: krista@thesunnyshadow.com
  • Please use correct grammar and punctuation. Otherwise, it will likely be corrected for you.
  • Topic: I’m currently open to all topics relating to mental health, recovery, self-harm, addiction and sobriety, coping tools, and self-growth. You’re more than welcome to tell “your personal recovery story” as it pertains to any of the aforementioned topics. I specifically want to know how you cope and maintain hope. But I will take all submissions.
  • Length: No requirement.
  • Images: You may include photos to use throughout the blog post if you wish, but I now have a set format for feature photos and pinnable images. However, please include profile photo to go along with your bio. It would be awesome if you sent it to me pre-sized at 350px x 350px.
  • All images should be properly attributed and have been credited.
  • You may not share affiliate links within your posts.
  • You may share one link back to your own content within your post, along with one link to another relevant source. However, it is totally within my discretion whether or not that link will be published. (Ex. If I don’t feel it is a safe link or if I feel that it is irrelevant or spam.) All formatting of links is completely within my discretion as well (e.g. rel=”nofollow”)
  • I may link to The Sunny Shadow’s blog content where relevant within your post.
  • I encourage you to share a personal bio, profile photo, and social media links. But you may also share anonymously and I encourage you to do so if that’s the only factor holding you back from sharing. I’d be more than happy to go back at a later date and attach your name if you change your mind.
  • Original Content Only: This site retains exclusive publication rights for three months after which you {the writer} may republish elsewhere, but requests that future online posts link back to The Sunny Shadow (dot) com as the original publisher.
  • If you need help pulling it all together, just ask. If I have time I’ll be happy to help. For example, if you have no idea where to acquire a photo, please do not let that stop you from sharing your story. Or, if grammar and punctuation just aren’t your thing, I can help with that!
  • I have the right to reject any submission for any reason. Though the main reason would be that it isn’t something that I think my readers would be interested in.
