The Little Things: II

Little everyday things add up to fill our lives with joy, if we let them. Starting our day from a place of gratitude is proven to have a positive affect on how the rest of our day goes, from our mood to our perspective. We all have a little something to be thankful for on a daily basis; well, most of us have a lot. Today, these are a few of mine…

THOSE EYES!

EYES
MY 12-YEAR-OLD’S EYES | BLUE-GREEN-GREY

This girl, Skittles, my 12-year-old’s nickname. She makes me weak. Those eyes are a weapon with magical powers. They make me laugh when I’m trying to be serious. However, they’re honest. Because of them, I always know when something is bothering Skittles. Those beautiful eyes change colors depending on what color she’s wearing… Blue, Green, Grey… Love Those Eyes! They make me happy

The Natural Beauty That Surrounds Us

Brown County, IN
Brown County, IN

A couple of years ago as a Christmas gift, my husband took me to the cutest little cabin-ish in Brown County, IN for a weekend. It was alone-time away that was wayyy overdue & it was awesome! {kid-free -Woot Woot!}

OHIO RIVER | LOUISVILLE, KY

This picture was taken about two years ago, early spring. It was taken from The Big Four Bridge, which is a bridge recently reconstructed that spans from Louisville, Kentucky to Jeffersonville, Indiana. The bridge itself is 1/2 mile long, however, including each state’s ramps to enter/exit the bridge, it is one mile long… round trip two miles! Pretty. I will share pics of the actual bridge sometime 😉

CHEROKEE PARK | LOUISVILLE, KY

Cherokee Park is another beautiful Louisville landmark I’m grateful to have access to. While its main feature is the 2.4-mile Scenic Loop, with separate lanes for pedestrians, cyclists & vehicles; it’s 409-acre municipal park is loaded with gorgeous landscapes… as you can see. There are bike trails, a dog park, basketball courts, a fountain, picnic areas w/grills, playgrounds, ponds… GORGEOUS! People often set up easels & paint the landscapes there.

Anything + Everything Inspirational

I’m a little obsessed with inspirational quotes & what not, but isn’t everyone? I make sure that I get a healthy dose of inspiration on a daily basis. Whether it be from social media or my meditation readings, these little things brighten my day & help me gain perspective. Often, inspiration comes from unlikely places & to me, that makes it even more special. I just have to stay open.

 Netflix

It may sound silly but not only do  Netflix, I’m especially grateful for it when I’m sick. It’s like Netflix somehow makes being sick a little fun. I can lay in bed & binge watch without the guilt; I have an excuse… I’m sick {cough, cough}. I’m so happy my daughter asked for it a couple Christmases ago. I have to admit, I’m lazy so it’s my ultimate guilty pleasure.

Home

I’m extremely grateful that my family & I have a warm, cozy house. Having a home is not exactly a “little thing,” it’s pretty major; but with the weather as it is I’m feeling extra thankful.

What everyday little things bring you joy & gratitude??
